Hearing Aid and Testing Specialists – Jacksonville Beach

If you are unsure whether you need a hearing aid, the first step will be to have a comprehensive hearing test completed by our team of audiologists. This will give us, and you, the results you need to determine a solid treatment plan and other options which may, or may not include fitting for hearing aids.

We offer a wide variety of hearing aid brands and technologies. Each hearing aid style we offer is available with loads of features.
Generally speaking, the cost of our hearing aids will depend on the features and technology you choose – not the styling. While digital hearing aids come in different levels from entry-level/basic to our premium or advanced levels. Each level has it’s own features.

Things to consider when selecting a hearing aid style:

All of our hearing aids have three basic components: microphone, amplifier and a speaker. The microphone receives the sounds that are then converted into electrical signals that are sent to an amplifier. The amplifier increases the power which is then sent through the speaker.

Even though all hearing aids share the same parts, the way they are put together varies and affects their styling. Some of our hearing aids fit completely in the wearer’s ears, others are worn behind the ear or over the ear.

The style of hearing aid you choose highly depends on your hearing test evaluation and your lifestyle, the activities your participate in and personal preferences. Although styles vary greatly, cost is not a typical factor as there is little difference in pricing between the styles.

Our Common Hearing Aid Types

Custom Hearing Aids

These types of hearing aids fit directly in the ear and the components are kept within a shell that is molded to the ear canal. These types of hearing aids are easy to use with phones and give the convenience of keeping all of the components within the ear.

Behind the Ear Hearing Aids

These are the more commonly seen hearing aids that people wear on top of or over their ears. All of the components are housed in a case that sits outside of the ear and the sounds are delivered to the ear using custom made earmolds or non-custom tubing.

Another version that is becoming more common is to have the speaker in the ear, while the microphone and amplifier are housed in a case worn on the ear. Depending on your level of hearing loss you can have custom made earmolds that will deliver sound to the ear.
