Hearing Aid and Testing Specialists – Ponte Vedra Beach

If you need hearing aids but are not sure what to do then The Hearing Center at JHBI in Jacksonville has solutions for you.

The first step you will need is to have a current comprehensive hearing exam completed by an audiologist from our staff. This will give us, and you, the results you need to decide on a treatment plan and other options. These options may include getting fitted for hearing aids.

At The Hearing Center we have a wide variety of hearing aid brands and hearing aid technologies. Each of our hearing aid styles are available with features to meet all of your needs.
The cost of our hearing aids depends on the features and technology you choose, not the hearing aid styles. Digital hearing aids come in different levels ranging from our entry-level to our advanced levels. Each level has it’s own features.

Things to consider when selecting a hearing aid style:

All of our hearing aids are made of three components: microphone, amplifier and a speaker. The microphone receives sounds that gets converted into an electrical signal. The signals are sent to an amplifier. The amplifier increases the signal’s power which is then sent through the speaker and you hear the sounds.

Though all hearing aids share the same parts, the way the parts are configured varies and this changes their styling. We offer hearing aids that fit completely in the wearer’s ears, while we offer others that are designed to be worn behind or over the ear.

Your hearing aid you choice depends on your hearing exam results and your lifestyle, the activities your participate in and personal preferences.

Though styles vary greatly, cost is typically not a factor as pricing isn’t affect by the styles of hearing aids.

Our Common Hearing Aid Types

Custom Hearing Aids

Custom hearing aids are designed to fit directly in the wearer’s ear and all components are housed in a shell that is molded to the ear canal. These types of hearing aids are easy to use with phones and give the convenience of keeping all of the components within the ear. They also can be well hidden for people concerned with that.

Behind the Ear Hearing Aids

These are the more common hearing aid styles that people wear on top of or over their ears. All components are in a housing that sits on top of the ear. The sounds are delivered to the ear canal using custom made earmolds or tubing.

Other versions that are becoming more common is with the the speaker in the ear and the microphone and amplifier in a case worn on the ear. Depending on your hearing loss levels you can opt have custom made earmolds.
