Hearing Aid and Hearing Test Specialists – Mandarin

If you believe you are in need of hearing aids – the first thing we need to do is schedule a current audiogram.

This will give you and us the results we need to be able to come up with the best treatment plan for your hearing needs. Depending on the results of your audiogram, this could include a fitting for hearing aids.

At BetterHearingJax we have a variety of hearing aid styles, brands and hearing aid technologies. Each style of hearing aid we offer is available with lots of features to suit your needs.

In general, the costs of a hearing aid is dependent on the features and the technology included in your choice of hearing aids – not the styling. The digital hearing aids we offer come in different levels – from basic to premium and advanced levels.

Each of our hearing aid levels have their own important features.

Things to consider when selecting a hearing aid style:

All hearing aids have three essential and basic components: a microphone to pick up sound,  an amplifier to increase frequency and a speaker to transmit the sound to your ear canal.

The microphone receives sounds that get converted into an electrical signal. The signal is then sent to to the amplifier. The amplifier increases the electrical signal’s power which is then sent through the speaker to the inner ear.

Although hearing aids share the same components, the way the components are put together and housed will affect the style of your hearing aid. Some of our hearing aid designs fit completely in the wearer’s ears, while other styles are meant to be worn behind the ear or over the ear.

Whichever hearing aid style you choose depends on your  audiogram evaluation, your lifestyle and activities your participate in and personal preference.

Although our styles vary greatly, the cost is not typically a factor, as there is not much difference in pricing between the different styles.

Common Hearing Aid Types We Offer

Custom Hearing Aids

Custom hearing aid types are designed to fit directly in the ear and all components are placed within a shell or casing that is molded to your ear canal. These types of hearing aids are designed to be simple and easy to use for all sorts of everyday activities. They are also convenient for use with phones. One benefit of this style is the design keeps all of the components within your ear.

Behind the Ear Hearing Aids

Behind the ear styles of hearing aids are the more common design that people are used to seeing. This style is worn on top of or over the ears. The components are housed in a small case that sits on the outside of the ear and sounds are sent into the wearer’s ear via a custom made ear-mold or non custom tubing.

There are other versions that are becoming more common and that is a style where the speaker sits in the ear, while the microphone and amplifier are in case worn on top of the ear. This allows for a smaller casing outside the ear and more direct sound in the ear canal.

Depending on your level of hearing loss, custom made ear-molds can also be made that will deliver sounds to your inner ear.
