Hearing Aid and Hearing Test Specialists – Atlantic Beach, FL

The first step in determining if you need hearing aids is to have a comprehensive hearing exam completed by one of our team of audiologists.

This will give you and us the results needed to determine your best treatment plan. This could include fitting for hearing aids.

We have a wide variety of hearing aids brands and hearing aid technologies. Each style of hearing aid we offer is available with lots of features to suit your needs.

In general, the costs of hearing aids depends on the features and technologies you choose for your aids – not the style. Our digital hearing aids come in different levels – from basic to premium and advanced. Each of our hearing aid levels have their own important features.

Things to consider when selecting a hearing aid style:

Our hearing aids have three basic components: a microphone,  an amplifier and a speaker. The microphone receives sounds that get converted into electric signals that get sent to an amplifier. The amplifier increases electrical signal’s power which is then through the speaker to the inner ear.

Although all of our hearing aids share the same components, the way they are put together varies and this affects their styling. Some hearing aids are designed to fit completely in the wearer’s ears while other styles are worn behind the ear or over the ear.

The hearing aid style you choose depends on your hearing test evaluation and your lifestyle needs, the activities your participate in and personal preferences.

Although styles vary greatly, cost is typically not factor as there is little difference in pricing between the styles.

Our Common Hearing Aid Types

Custom Hearing Aids

Custom hearing aid types fit directly into the ear and all of the components are housed in a shell that is molded to the ear canal. These types of hearing aids are easy to use with phones and are convenient for keeping all of the components within your ear.

Behind the Ear Hearing Aids

These are probably the more common type of hearing aids people are used to seeing. They are worn on top of or over their ears. All of the components are housed in a small case that sits on the outside of the ear and sounds are delivered into the wearer’s ear using custom made ear-molds or tubing.

Another version that is becoming common is a style that has the speaker in the ear, with the microphone and amplifier in a case worn on top of the ear. Depending on your level of hearing loss, custom made ear-molds can be made that will deliver sound to the ear.
